Mr Malek is an amazing surgeon. He explained everything and answered questions in our preop appointment and on the day of admission he reassured me as he knew I was very nervous having my total knee replacement.
His personality and bedside manner is exceptional, he visited me several times on the ward after the operation.
The actual wound is so neat - he doesn't use staples - which is a massive bonus.
I would strongly recommend Mr Malek.
I would also like to praise his fantastic team from appointment clerks, joint school, pre op clinic, ward staff and his secretary.

Mr MALEK is wonderful I first met up with him 4years ago at Wrexham Maelor Hospital And had a lot of faith in him then ,he has always been kind and considerate making me feel I was a person not just a hospital number .
The day of my operation he explained everything I needed to know in a clear and precise way before the operation I was so very nervous he gave me the confidence I needed .later in the day and told me what I wanted to hear the operation had gone well .
I would have every confidence in recommending Mr MALEK with the certainty he wouldn’t let me down , a great surgeon.

I was admitted a month ago for a Total Knee Replacement. I found Mr Malik to be a very caring, compassionate man with a lovely personality. He makes you feel totally at ease and confident he can do his job well. Everything went according to plan & I was home 2 days after the operation, having accomplished the stairs, it was amazing.
He even rang me up at home to check on how things were progressing & that physiotherapy was on track.
The wound, a month on, is looking very neat, he uses internal sutures and glue, so no clips or sutures.
I can definitely say I recommend him to anyone wanting knee or hip surgery. Thank you.

Had a new hip at the end of Februay. The recovery was fast and totally successful. Has taken a while to write this review as I have been so busy and ACTIVE; feel 5 years younger, no more hobbling and limping.
Mr Malek was a joy to meet, cheerful, interested, and generous with his time. I was surprised to receive a follow up telephone call from him at the start of week 4 following the op, just to check that everything was ok.
I would definitely recommend him, and have in fact already recommended him to my cousin.

Mr Malek is a gentleman he looked after my mum brilliantly.Once she was discharged from hospital he phoned her to see how she was coping. He put her at ease,had her 6weeks check up,doesn't have to go back for 6 months. Now she's had new hip she feels like new women .Thank you MrMalek

Prof. Ib Malek joined BCUHB at Wrexham Maelor Hospital in January 2018 as Consultant Trauma and orthopaedic surgeon specialising in Lower Limb arthroplasty (Hip and Knee Replacement). He completed his specialist orthopaedic training from Wales training programme. He successfully completed 18 months fellowship at Adelaide, South Australia from Central Adelaide Health Network and prestigious Calvary Wakefield Hospital.
